The Terminal utility will allow you to access SIS from a computer running the Macintosh operating system using the most secure method available. Follow the instructions below to access SIS with the Terminal utility.
NOTE: If you are logging in from a laptop computer or from an off-campus location, you will need to download the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client. The VPN, or Virtual Private Network, software will allow you to log into SIS from a remote location. You will need to log into VPN before connecting to SIS.
Accessing SIS with Terminal
- Open the Applications folder from your System Dock.
- Open the Utilities forlder.
- Click Terminal.
- Enter the following information: ssh s0001111@sis.usc.edu (Substitute your own 7-digit payroll ID number for the number listed. Your SIS login is a lowercase “s” followed by your 7-digit Employee ID number.)
- Press RETURN.
- If this is the first you are connecting to SIS from this computer, you may see the following message:The authenticity of host ‘sis.usc.edu (128.125.84.249)’ can’t be established.RSA key fingerprint is xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?If you see this message, type yes and press RETURN.
- When prompted, enter your SIS password.
- When prompted for Terminal Name, type VT100.NOTE: The terminal name is case sensitive and must be entered in all uppercase letters.
