There are several email systems currently in use at USC. This page will help you determine which system your email account is on and provide you with information about setting up and using your email at USC.
For Faculty and Staff
USC faculty and staff are currently being transitioned from the central USC email system to Microsoft Office 365. Additionally, some schools and departments also maintain their own departmental email systems.
Microsoft Office 365
The university has identified Microsoft’s cloud-based Office 365 product as the replacement for the university’s central email system for faculty and staff. Most USC employees with email accounts on the central email system, USC Email, will be scheduled to move to Office 365 on a departmental basis over the course of the 2013 calendar year. ITS will coordinate these moves with each academic unit and department. We anticipate that the roll out of Office 365 will be completed in 2014.

Central email is the basic email account that ITS provides to all USC users. If you are currently able to check your email at email.usc.edu, you are using USC’s central email system.

Departmental Email Accounts
Some schools and departments provide their faculty and staff with email accounts in addition to the central email system. To find out if your school or department has its own email system, contact your school or department’s local IT support.
Note on Google Apps at USC Accounts
At this time, Google Apps at USC accounts are available only to USC students. USC faculty and staff are not eligible for these accounts.
USC students are automatically provided with central USC email accounts but are encouraged to activate a Google Apps at USC account for access to a USC-branded Gmail account.
Google Apps at USC and Gmail
If you are a USC student and would like to create a USC-branded Gmail account, you will first need to activate your Google Apps at USC account. The Google Apps at USC activation site is available at getgoogle.usc.edu.
If you are a USC student with a Google Apps at USC account, please visit the Google Apps at USC Support site for support documentation.
If you have activated your USC computing account at the First Login website but have not yet activated your Google Apps at USC account, you have a central USC email account. This is the basic email account that ITS currently provides to all USC users.
