Stata is a general-purpose statistical software package with an easy-to-use graphic (point-and-click) user interface. Stata also allows advanced users to perform data analysis tasks using a command language.

It is available for use in the USC computer labs. USC faculty, staff, and students may also purchase Stata directly from StataCorp.

This document provides information about how to access, purchase, and get support for Stata at USC.

Accessing Stata in the USC Computing Centers

Stata IC is installed in all USC computing centers. Information about the USC computing centers can be found on the USC Computing Centers page.

  • On the Windows operating system in the computing centers, Stata is found on the right side of the screen under Productivity Tools > Statistics
    Applications.
  • On Macintosh operating system in the computing centers, Stata is found in Applications > Statistics and Math .

Stata may also be available on departmental computer labs such as in the Marshall Library and the Norris Medical Library at the Health Sciences campus. These labs are not maintained by ITS.

Purchasing Stata at USC

If you would like to install Stata on your PC or Mac, individual Stata licenses are available at an academic discount for USC faculty, staff, and students. You may purchase Stata software directly from StataCorp. in College Station, Texas. Stata Versions
