🚨 Do you use a third-party to send emails? If so, take action by May 21st 🚨
USC is implementing stronger email authentication (DMARC) protocols to protect our community from email-based threats. These changes will help ensure that only authorized email systems can send emails on behalf of USC. All accounts sending email on behalf of USC using third-party services like Salesforce, Mailchimp, Zendesk, etc. must comply with USC email authentication protocols. Otherwise, you may experience email delivery issues after May 21st.
Key Actions Required:
- Anyone sending third-party email using a top-level email address (@usc.edu) must migrate to a subdomain.
- If you haven’t started the DMARC process yet, please refer to the Email Authentication – Instruction Guide and submit a DMARC ticket in ServiceNow as soon as possible.
Missed the Deadline? If a legitimate email from a third-party sender is quarantined, the relationship owner should contact Security Engineering (seceng@usc.edu) or call the 24×7 CSC hotline to request email removal from quarantine. Security Engineering will un-quarantine the emails and place a temporary exclusion for 15 days. The relationship owner should then ensure vendor compliance by completing the steps above.
Our team will monitor the quarantine folder and reach out when possible.
