Instagram just rolled out a new live location-sharing feature — here’s what you should know:
It’s OFF by default, and you choose who (if anyone) can see your live location.
In an ideal world, it could help you:
- See nearby friends when traveling
- Find out who else is at the same event
- Make spontaneous meetups easier
But since we live in a privacy-conscious world, not everyone will want this enabled. Thankfully, there’s an “Only These Friends” option that could still be helpful — even as a lightweight alternative to Life360 for staying connected with close friends or family.
There are some viral posts claiming this is turned on for everyone — that’s not true. You don’t need to disable location access in your phone settings unless you want to, but if it gives you peace of mind, below are those instructions just in case!
