ITS Data Center Analyst Barney Lum and Trojan Marching Band Director Jacob Vogel flying over Los Angeles.

ITS Data Center Analyst Barney Lum recently took Trojan Marching Band Director Jacob Vogel flying over Los Angeles in his 1982 Cessna 172 airplane as part of the Second Annual Trojan Spirit Streamathon.

The Streamathon, held in conjunction with USC’s Day of SCupport fundraising initiative, is a 12-hour live-streaming YouTube event to raise money for the band’s travel fund.

The flight offered viewers a unique aerial perspective of the city, including some historical sites at USC. Barney even allowed Jacob to take the yoke and try his hand at navigating the plane, which Barney describes as the “Honda Civic” of airplanes. In addition to the flight, Barney gave a behind-the-scenes tour of the ITS Data Center and reminisced about his time at USC as a student and member of the band.

The marching band hopes to exceed $150,000 in contributions this year. For more information about the Trojan Marching Band, visit https://uscband.usc.edu/.
