The Technology Connection Charge (TCC) is designed to guarantee key services for all university units while providing a phone and computing infrastructure that meets the technological needs of USC faculty, staff, and students.
TCC services include:
- 5-digit (extension) dialing
- Local and long-distance calling within the U.S
- Internet connection (wired and wireless)
- Maintenance of telecommunications equipment, from the phone to the wall jack
Services covered by the TCC are available to all benefits-eligible employees.
To request services covered under the TCC, please submit a request via a Communication Service Request (CSR) (USC Login Required).
The TCC includes phone data network service and troubleshooting to the phone jack and maintenance of inside wiring. The TCC does not include desktop computer support, international calling, cellular phones, desk phones, pagers, additional network support (such as installation or relocation of phone or network connections, wiring upgrades–except as part of the university-wide network upgrade), and other specialized services. It does not cover adds, moves, or changes to existing services. Each of these services will be charged to the unit based on the actual cost of the service.
The TCC for fiscal year (FY) 2020 is $1,251 for each of the unit’s total number of on-campus benefits-eligible employees. For each of the unit’s off-campus employees, the TCC rate is $220. Departments are charged $417 for each on-campus teaching or research assistant. And for each off-campus teaching or research assistant, the department is charged $74. Units are not charged for non-benefits-eligible employees (part-time faculty at less than 50% time) and casual student workers.
