Activating Your Account
In order to activate your USC NetID username and password, which is used to access your email, Workday, and many other university services, visit the USC NetID Account Services website.
Username and Password
ITS assigns all users a unique username based on their name. It is important that you create a secure password for your USC account. Please see the About Your USC Password page for information on creating a secure, or strong, password.
To protect your computing account and the university computer system, ITS recommends that you visit the USC NetID Account Services website to change your password every year.
Microsoft Office 365
USC faculty and staff receive their email and a suite of collaboration tools including calendaring and cloud-based file storage through Microsoft Office 365. For more information on Office 365, visit the Microsoft Office 365 page.
Departmental Email Accounts
Some schools and departments provide their faculty and staff with email accounts in addition to the central email system. To find out if your school or department has its own email system, contact your school or department’s local IT support.
Google Apps at USC
At this time, Google Apps at USC accounts that include email services are available only to students. USC faculty and staff are eligible for Google Drive accounts that include file storage and collaboration features, as well as a suite of other Google Apps including Google Sites, YouTube, and Google Hangouts.
Connecting to the USC Network

USC provides two wireless networks, an encrypted, high-speed network for USC account holders, along with an open wireless network for guests. For information about connecting to the wireless networks, see itservices.usc.edu/wireless.
Antivirus and Computing Security
All USC staff should visit software.usc.edu to download free antivirus software for their computing devices.
Duo Two-Factor Authentication
Staff members may now enable Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) for all the services accessed through the USC NetID sign-in process. Two-factor authentication allows users to confirm their identity via a mobile device or desktop phone each time that they log into their USC account. This additional measure improves the security of personal information by ensuring that no one else but the account holder will be able to log into an account, even if the password is compromised. As a current USC staff member, you may download up to five copies of the latest version of Microsoft Office for use on your personal or work computing equipment, including desktop or laptop computers, and up to five copies on your iPhone, iPad, and Android and Windows mobile devices.
Blackboard Collaborate is a web conferencing tool with features such as video or audio chat, whiteboard, slideshow, and screen sharing. Visit itservices.usc.edu/blackboardcollaborate for details.
MyUSC, the university’s portal, is available at http://my.usc.edu. It provides personalized and customizable gateway pages via USC’s single-sign-on system, which lets you use your USC NetID credentials to access multiple university services.
As a USC employee, you receive access to lynda.com, an online training provider offering more than 2,380 courses on a broad range of computing and technology topics, including Google Apps, Blackboard, Adobe products, Microsoft Office, web design and development, audio/video production, computer programming, and mobile devices.
